OUR COMMITMENTS OUR COMMITMENTS

Since 2005, we've been designing up well-cut, unisexessentials to wear all year round and carry forward season after season.
DES CRÉATIONS PLEINES DE SENS DES CRÉATIONS PLEINES DE SENS DESIGNS WITH MEANING
Fabrics have always played a key role in the design of our clothes. That's why, for several seasons now, we've focused on using noble, natural materials.
At American Vintage, cotton is one of our flagship fabrics. Over the autumn-winter 2023-2024 season, it represented 43% of the composition of our clothes with:
conventional cotton
64%
cotton, all organic
18%
cotton, of which 20% to 70% of the fibres are recycled
15%
Supima® cotton

Mineral dyeing
More Hide
A method that uses only natural elements derived from minerals found in the earth to create colour. This method is used in the VEGIFLOWER and DEVON lines. To soften the clothes, we use products that contain aloe vera vegetable oil.
Finely-tuned factories
More Hide
Over 50% of our denim clothes are made in a factory that reuses water - continuously - for washes.

Wear (and rewear forever)

At American Vintage, we like clothes that last. Today, the artisans at Tilli can alter and repair your AMV favourites.

TAKE CARE OF OUR MATERIALS TAKE CARE OF OUR MATERIALS TAKE CARE OF OUR MATERIALS
...to extend the life of your clothes.
Because they are natural, some of our materials are more delicate than others. They require special care to guarantee that unique feel you love so much and which has been our signature since 2005.
Knitwear
More Hide
Collection after collection, knit has established itself as one of the key fabrics in the American Vintage wardrobe - and has done so since our beginnings in 2005. Its unique feel requires special attention. Highly breathable, it doesn't need regular washing. To protect the fibre, knitwear should be washed by hand in cold or warm water, using a specific detergent. It can become misshapen when wet, so dry it flat in the open air on a clean, dry towel.
Animal fibres
More Hide
Wool, alpaca and mohair are delicate fibres, which need careful care. These types of knits and wools do not like water, so dry-cleaning is preferable. You can hand wash areas that need it on an occasional basis. For clothes with more than 50% wool, avoid machine washing.
Jersey
More Hide
Comfortable, stretchy and soft, it's the perfect fabric for American Vintage clothes. Jersey should be machine-washed at 30°C, inside out to preserve the colours. Dry in the shade before ironing gently - always inside out.
Denim
More Hide
Denim is an essential part of the AMV wardrobe. Woven from 100% cotton, our clothes are alive and evolve over time. Every season, we develop new washes that give our fabrics a more or less vintage look. To help your jeans last longer, we recommend that you do not wash them over 40°C. However, jeans don't get very dirty; one 30°C wash each season is often enough. Space your washes as far apart as possible. For drying, opt for open air.
Cotton
More Hide
Cotton is a natural plant-based material. Pure or blended, it is an essential part of each of our American Vintage collections - and has been every season since 2005. Lightweight, breathable and comfortable to wear, cotton is easy to care for, can be washed at any temperature and can be tumble-dried. To preserve the delicate fibres, we recommend washing at 30°C maximum and air drying.
Supima® cotton
More Hide
Premium Supima® cotton is a key fabric in the American Vintage wardrobe. Harvested in the United States (only), Supima® cotton fibre is longer than that of traditional cotton, making it finer and more resistant. A rare fibre, with its unrivalled softness it provides second-skin comfort. The colours are vibrant and the garment is even more beautiful - for a long time. To keep its softness and shine, Supima® cotton can be machine washed in a net bag (or pillowcase). A delicate programme no hotter than 30°C is recommended to ensure the fabric lasts.
Linen
More Hide
Linen provides the lightness in the American Vintage wardrobe, especially in summer. Lightness, yes, but no less resistance. Easy to care for, it can be washed (at 30°C or 40°C) and tumble-dried. Linen is best worn without ironing, showing the raw imperfections that make it unique, but it can be ironed inside out - at low temperature only.
Lyocell
More Hide
Lyocell (or Tencel®) is made from wood pulp, which is hardened and shaped to create an absorbent, highly resistant material. Soft and flowing, the fabric has a peach-skin appearance, giving it structure and contrast. Lyocell is hard-wearing and easy to care for, as it can be machine-washed below 40°C. When it comes to tumble-drying, choose the 'delicate' option to prevent the fibres from shrinking. Ironing at low temperature will remove any creases that may have appeared during washing.
Silk
More Hide
Silk is a natural material famous for its softness, shine and lightness. Absorbent and ultra-versatile, it warms in winter and cools in summer. Its special characteristics make it one of the essential materials in the American Vintage wardrobe, whatever the season. Of the highest quality, silk is still delicate. Maintaining it therefore requires special care. In other words: machine wash on a “delicate” programme, no hotter than 30°C, in a net bag (or pillowcase). Do not use fabric softener and choose a spin speed less than 600 rpm. Silk clothes should be air-dried to retain their shine and shape.
Viscose
More Hide
An artificial material, viscose is made from wood pulp and is treated to make it resistant and shiny. Appreciated for its "artificial silk" quality, it is supple, fluid and pleasant to wear. What makes it special? It is non-elastic, so special care is needed when maintaining it. When wet, the fibre shrinks and becomes brittle, so it's best to wash by hand or use a delicate machine programme at 30°C maximum. When it comes to drying, it's best to dry on a hanger after wringing out the garment in a towel without twisting it, to avoid changing its shape. To iron a viscose garment: turn it inside out and when still damp, use a low temperature setting: the steam will give it a supple, flowing appearance.

Large picture windows with views over the pine forest keep our employees in touch with what's essential: the surrounding countryside. It's an environment conducive to creativity, where time is valued and personal and collective initiatives are encouraged.

- Less energy-intensive, bio-sourced or certified materials.
- Made-to-measure furniture.
- Different installations, depending on the location. For example, we do not install air conditioning in Nordic countries.
- Donation or recycling of old structures.

"Increasingly lifestyle-oriented (but still with the American Vintage touch), our stores are now organised around bars and break-out areas, which make it easier to discuss ideas in an intuitive and enthusiastic way. The service goes way beyond fashion advice."

AMERICAN VINTAGE: A COLLABORATIVE PLATFORM AMERICAN VINTAGE: A COLLABORATIVE PLATFORM

Raising the profile of emerging talents and artists

Outside the company, we are proud to help young talented people through ambitious partnerships. Since 2017, American Vintage has sponsored the Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories Festival in Hyères and awards the main prize. We then offer the winner the chance to exhibit a series of photographs in stores the following season.
Throughout the year, we also showcase artists with a wide range of specialities, asking them to decorate our windows with their art. Finally, we regularly sign more sports-based partnerships with emerging athletes.

In our campaigns,
faces are inspired by real life

Today, American Vintage campaigns are just like you: realistic, unpretentious and rooted in everyday life.
Every season, we set out to meet faces that everyone can identify with, as part of our commitment to diversity. We want our photos to look just like you.
