SOULEYMANE BACHIR DIAW: 2023 WINNER

For the 2023 edition, American Vintage took over the maze of rooms at Villa Noailles to exhibit the photographs of the festival's 10 finalists. Souleymane Bachir Diaw was presented with the American Vintage Photography Award at the end of the Festival weekend. The Senegalese-born artist presented two raw, sincere portraits in which her selection of American Vintage pieces came to life.
"I felt a lot of gratitude. And I thought of all the people who have nurtured my work. The list goes on and on! It's also a feeling of pride, because my work has resonated, and this prize gives me the opportunity to develop it further, with new resources."

NEXT
YEAR,
A PROJECT
WITH AMV

Next year, Souleymane Bachir Diaw will be commissioned to produce a fashion series with American Vintage - which will then be presented at the 2024 Hyères Festival. It is an opportunity for us to continue to showcase young talent.
"I'm going to continue to explore “sutura”, a term that refers to the values of discretion, modesty, respect for intimacy and privacy. I want to work with fabrics and also other materials, and approach everything in a sculptural and poetic way."
